Loyola Marymount University is preparing to open its first travel agency in the U.S. in downtown St. Louis, as well as opening a second in Atlanta, The Associated Press has learned.
The move will allow St. Charles-based St.
Louis Travel to open a third travel agency this fall in the city’s West End.
The new company will employ about 1,000 people, including 50 full- and part-time employees.
The St. Louis Travel company will also include a retail center, an art gallery, a pharmacy and a catering service.
The St. Marys Travel Company is a new company founded by a group of investors including John Stroum, who started the company in 2016 with an eye toward expanding its business to the Northeast.
He said he and his partners are excited about the opportunity to expand and bring in additional customers.
St. Johns is the only company that has expanded beyond the downtown core, he said.
The company was founded in 2014, after a year-long effort by the group.
The expansion, which began earlier this year, will include an office, a restaurant, a retail and a food court.
St. Louis Travel has already opened three locations in Atlanta and will begin offering services in 2018.
The business is expected to open by early next year, the company said in a statement.
St Louis Travel is part of a growing number of companies expanding in the St. Paul area.
The company has been growing since 2017, with about 10 to 15 new locations announced.
Staples is expanding in St.
Paul, as is the company that is developing a hotel near the Uptown St. Martins metro area.
And the company recently announced plans to open an office in the Loop, which includes a new pharmacy and office space.
