Travel agents, travel agencies and airlines are getting the best deals of the year on holiday travel, as they continue to sell out on major travel items.
A number of travel agencies are reporting record holiday sales and are expecting even more during the coming weeks, as holiday season gets underway.
A spokesperson for Delta Air Lines, the largest airline by volume, said that Delta’s holiday sales have increased year over year, with over $1.3 billion in sales on its flights to the U.S. in the last three months alone.
“I think it’s safe to say that the holiday season has been a record year for Delta,” said Delta Air Line Executive Vice President of Business Development and Marketing, David Pomerantz.
“We continue to see record sales across our entire business, and we are confident that the sales that we’ve seen over the last two weeks reflect our confidence in the continued growth and growth of our business.
The average price paid for travel in the U: $4,200 per person in December, up $1,500 per person year over season, and $5,800 per person month over season.
Delta also reported that the average price for a hotel stay in the United States went up $8,000, with the average number of rooms sold going up by $500, and the average stay time on the property going up $2,500.
According to TripAdvisor, travel agents have sold out on nearly 3,500 hotels in the past month alone.
The average price of a hotel room on TripAdvisors has gone up by over $4K, up more than $300 in just two weeks.
The top travel agencies also reported record holiday season sales, as Delta reported sales of $1 billion in holiday sales, and a record $2 billion in travel purchases from hotels and travel agencies in the previous three months.
Travel agents are also expecting record holiday traffic in the coming months.
The biggest holiday season event of the decade is already upon us, and now is the perfect time to jump on the big-ticket holiday deals.
Travel agents are currently booking over $3 billion worth of holiday travel in December alone, and expect the holiday sales to continue through the rest of the month.
The holiday season will bring unprecedented demand for travel and is sure to bring a lot of new arrivals to airports, with many major airlines expected to add flights and passengers to their fleets.
