India’s travel agency will become a travel agency in the country, bringing its workforce from five to eight people, the company said on Thursday.
The move follows an announcement by the government in July that the country would open its gateway to global travellers by 2024.
The company said it would hire about 40 staff from India, and also set up an office in Delhi.
It said it had set up a travel advisory committee with the objective of providing guidance and guidance on the governance structure of the company and its activities.
The new venture will focus on global travel to India, with its first overseas office set to open in January next year, it said.
The announcement comes a day after the government opened the country’s first online gateway to international travellers, offering free online travel for a year.
